A detective in my own dreams

I have always had vivid dreams in which i am aware that i am dreaming and i always have the same goal within the dream. I go up and ask people if they know they are in a dream, where am I, what is the purpose of this place and so on. I have had strange answers all creating different pieces to a puzzle whose whole picture has not been determined yet. It's as if i am between worlds in an empty space asking those figures floating by why this space's ultimate purpose entails. I am writing this post due to the fact that last night I had an extraordinary vivid dream and got me thinking that i should alert people of what i am discovering in my dreams. I am going to tell you about different conversations with these " dream people" i have had that i can remember. I must admit that i am terrible at writing these things down once i wake up so only those experiences that really stick out in my memory i will be reciting. Here it goes.

I was in a hospital hallway and saw a man on a hospital bed in the middle of the hallway. I know that i have spoken with him before so i approach him. I ask him where i am. He replies. " Well your in a dream. I know that you have figured that out by now." I respond that i do know that but I know this place is real to him, and this is a real place. So i ask again where am I? He responds, " Well ill give you a hint. Where we are right now is related to the sensation of being hungry."

I was in an apartment building and i walked into a random door. There i saw my mother sitting watching tv and she looked over and saw me and became overly enthusiastic. She came up to me and stated that she had been waiting for a visitor forever and that she had been stuck in this apartment. I then noted that she could leave anytime she wanted and the town was full of wonderful characters. She then got this horribly depressed look on her face and said, " Don't you get it? All there is, is me and this room. I cannot go outside. This is all that exists for me, well its partially my fault, but still all i have is my tv."

I was in my grade school gymnasium and was watching a basketball game. Then all of a sudden an older man approached me and said, " Matt! Your finally here! I have been waiting eons to meet you!. But i have to tell you, i notice that your behavior is very rude in your dreams. It offends us. Simply because you do not have to suffer legal ramifications here, doesn't mean that you should just do as you please because you cannot in real life."

The next night i was in a park and was approached by a man wearing a la type coat. He said that he had been waiting to meet me. I told him of the man the previous night and asked him if he had been waiting the same amount of time. He responded that no, indeed his situation was quite different from the man the previous night.

I was given a symbol for where i was in this particular dream. I have drawn it to the best of my memory.

I was in the same hospital hallway as before and i was talking to the same man on the same hospital bed before. I asked him the same question as i had before. He then stated the name of a book with a Russian title. He then stated a radio station frequency. I do not remember it now but i did then. So when i woke up i went out to my car to tune into the radio station. It was a Russian radio station that i was picking up.

Last night i had possibly the longest vivid dream i have ever had. I was wondering around goofing off with my dad. On the ride home i decided to ask, Do you know you are in a dream. He said of course and then said that he thought i didn't know that it was a dream. So i asked how he knew and he stated that it was because his house was different and thats what tipped him off to begin with. So i told him that we should investigate all of this and he disagreed simply putting it that we should have fun while we have the chance. So we did. Eventually we came to a lake and a set of stairs. I wanted to go to the set of stairs and he wanted to go to the lake. So we split ways and my dad told me to get in contact with him once i woke up as to discuss what had happened. I did but he did not remember his dream last night. Also apart of this dream last night i was talking to a fellow in the kitchen of my childhood home and i asked him the question of the purpose of dreams once again. He said that we don't have enough experience in life to deal with life as it is. So wherever we go in our dreams provides us subconsciouses experience that aide us in life.

I am a hugely vivid dreamer, and am 9/10 aware that I am dreaming. Oddly most of the beings in my dream are also aware of my dreaming, and we have had whole conversations in this fashions. It is remarkable.

Hi Matt. I came here to read the robotic stuff, which I found interesting as you supposed. But the questions raised in your dreams fascinate me more. Is this just the mind dealing with things it can't get to in wakefulness? Or is there a spiritual/eternal purpose, a clue to help us move deeper than we usually get to in our waking moments? In some of my blog entries, I've discussed dreams as a divine missive. Interesting.
